Teaching Experience and Philosophy
I am passionate about teaching in engaging and accessible ways, and part of my doctoral training focused on high-quality instruction in higher education. At the University of Memphis, I taught the graduate level course in Adolescent Development, serving master’s and doctoral students. At the University of California, Irvine, I taught undergraduate students, including teaching one course as the instructor, Adolescent Development in Education, and serving as a teaching assistant for four different course titles, ranging from lecture-based classes of 150 students, to more discussion-based seminars of about 20 students. My teaching experience has focused on both content areas and methods. In my teaching, I prioritize the following key areas: 1) centering students’ needs, 2) designing inclusive curriculum and assessments, and 3) creating opportunities for the application of academic concepts.
